Closing the Digital Divide + Pivoting During the Pandemic
During the pandemic, the Tumaini DC team has changed the way that we work with and support our students. Because of the generosity of our donors and supporters, we were well-positioned to make the necessary changes and pivot to better support our students during the pandemic. Tumaini DC has been able to provide 36 students with laptops through the #TumainiTechDrive. Each of the recipients is a college-bound senior meaning that in addition to completing this year’s classes, they will each be able to use the laptops for their collegiate studies, as well.
Tumaini DC has been able to provide virtual Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) sessions during the pandemic through our partnership with The Hustlers Guild. The five-week virtual/eLearning series is designed to empower students and equip them with the tools to continue learning and develop coping strategies to navigate these uncertain times. Over 1000 students across the nation have participated in SEL sessions that not only featured entrepreneurs, strategists, innovators, and experts, but also celebrities like Anthony Anderson and Rickey Smiley.
